A call of freedom into accuracy

At the first encounter with FLOWA a kind of almost irresponsible freedom can emerge. There is no task to execute well, no form to reproduce correctly, no formal objective to reach. This openness can be perceived as an absence of boundaries.

But FLOWA was not created to move away from precision. On the contrary. It was born from a search for ever greater accuracy. The difference lies in how form is reached. Not through the execution of a directive, but through relationship.

In FLOWA, form is not something decided or constructed from the outside. Form appears when certain relationships find a temporary stability. We can think of form as a momentary holding: a maintenance of distances between different points, parts, or directions of the body. For a brief time, these relationships remain constant. When this happens, form becomes perceptible. And this is where something important occurs: form calls.

A form generates the possibility of relationship. For an external body, that structure becomes an invitation, a direction, a field of tension. The possibility of a movement toward emerges. Relationship, in fact, is movement.

Sensing means allowing the form of the other, or of one’s own body in space, to arrive within us. Yet sensing alone does not produce transformation. Relationship begins when, after sensing, something starts to move in response to what has been perceived. This is why listening is essential: receiving without anticipating a response. It is creating a space in which the form of the other can exist. Only then does it become possible to allow oneself to be moved. In this sense, relationship is always transformation.

Gravity participates in this process. It is gravity that allows a body to maintain, for a time, the distances between its parts and its relationship to its own center. Without this continuity, there would be no holding of form.

And this is precisely why precision becomes an essential element in FLOWA. Not the precision of execution, but the precision of relationship: in distances, in weights, in directions, in timing. The clearer the relationship becomes, the more form can emerge. And every form, even the briefest one, is always a call.
